Children's Summer Reading
The Summer Reading Program for children ages 4-11 is a seven week series of fun and FREE virtual activities that revolve around reading and a chosen theme. This summer's theme is "Imagine Your Story" and our focus will be on Folk and Fairy Tales.
We will begin the summer with a virtual kick-off party on Friday, June 26th at 3 pm with David Engel's Wizard Academy. Please register for this event here:

Starting July 1st, caregivers may call the Children's Room (845)358-3370 x228 to reserve their child's Summer Reading To-Go Kit. Inside the kit will be everything your child will need to participate in the program from home, including a reading log, stickers, instructions and small prizes that should be handed out as they reach their reading goals. Reserved kits may be safely picked up after July 1st at the Library's Curbside Pick Up Station
Children will record the time they spend reading over the summer months (with a goal of 2-hours per week or 20-minutes per day). All Summer Reading Program participants will also have the opportunity to attend special virtual events throughout the summer! Registration for these events will happen through our Events Calendar here on our website starting June 15th. Lastly, all children who complete their reading logs will have the opportunity to enter a grand prize raffle for one of three amazing prizes! Photos of completed reading logs may be emailed to [email protected] . The winning entries will be pulled at our virtual closing ceremony on Friday, August 14th at 4:00 pm.
