Children's Summer Reading
The Summer Reading Program for children ages 4-11 is a seven week series of fun and FREE virtual activities that revolve around reading and a chosen theme. This summer's theme is "Tails and Tales" and our focus will be on all kinds of wonderful animals.
We will begin the summer with a virtual kick-off party on Friday, June 25th at 4 pm with the amazingly funny Jester Jim.

Starting Monday, June 28th , parents/caregivers may come to the Children's Room to pick up their child's Summer Reading To-Go Kit. Inside the kit will be everything your child will need to participate in the program from home, including a reading log, stickers, instructions and small prizes that should be handed out as they reach their reading goals. Children will record the time they spend reading over the summer months (with a goal of 2-hours per week or 20-minutes per day).
All Summer Reading Program participants will also have the opportunity to attend special virtual and a few in-person events throughout the summer! Registration for these events will start on Wednesday, July 1st by calling the Children's Room at (845)358-3370 x228. Children may register for 2 special events to start, to give everyone a fair chance to attend. If your child wishes to attend more than 2 events, please call the Children's Room the morning of each event to see if there have been any cancellations. If so, we will be happy to add your child to the list. Lastly, all children who complete their reading logs will have the opportunity to enter a grand prize raffle for one of three amazing prizes! Photos of completed reading logs may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org . The winning entries will be pulled at our virtual closing ceremony on Friday, August 13th at 4:00 pm.
Children ages 2-4 are very welcome to join our Early Literacy Program! You will be asked to complete an activity sheet filled with fun, literacy skill enhancing things to do with your little one. Once complete, please show your sheet to a Children's Room Staff member to get a free book!
Please email us at email@example.com or call us at (845)358-3370 x228, for more detailed information or questions about the Summer Reading Program! Despite the fact that everything is not completely back to "normal" this summer, our goal remains the same- to keep your children reading and safely having fun over the summer months! Thank you for your continued patience and support!
