Library Opportunties
There are many ways to get involved at The Nyack Library. We offer part-time jobs as pages to teens ages 15 - 18, there are volunteer opportunities for which you do not get paid but can get community service credit through your schools, and you may serve on the Teen Advisory Group (TAG). Please take a look below for more specifics on each of these opportunities.
- Jobs
- Occasionally, the Nyack Library has openings for Page positions. A page is responsible for shelving returned materials and keeping the stacks neat and organized. Teens ages 15 -18 with working papers should inquire at the library about available positions and complete an application. In addition, the Nyack Library maintains a bulletin board in the Teen Room which includes job opportunities in the community .
- Community Service
- Many teens come to the Nyack Library for community service. The work may be in the reference and/or children's departments and may include preparing materials for programs, assisting with set-up and clean-up, and/or other duties as assigned. If you are in 11th or 12th grade, do well in school and enjoy working with children, you may be eligible to volunteer as a homework helper in children's room.
- Teen Advisory Group (TAG)
- Another great way to get community service credit is to participate on our Teen Advisory Group (T)AG). The TAG meets quarterly to discuss programming ideas, outreach and collection development. TAG members are asked to bring their ideas and their energy to the meetings and to share information about the library with their friends and classmates.
