Children's Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program for children ages 5-11 is a seven week series of fun and FREE activities that revolve around reading and a chosen theme. Children will record the time they spend reading over the summer months (with a goal of 2 hours per week or 20 minutes per day) and will win small prizes and raffle tickets for larger prizes along the way. All Summer Reading Program participants will also have the opportunity to attend special events throughout the summer!
Children ages 3 and 4 are encouraged to participate in our Summer Reading Program for Preschoolers, which is specifically designed to enhance early literacy skills. Please contact the Children's Room for more information.
During the Summer Reading Program we also offer a Book Buddies program where high school students will help your child with their reading skills. Your child can either choose to read aloud to a Book Buddy or just sit back and listen while a Book Buddy reads to them for twenty minute time slots. Book Buddies are in the Children's Room a few afternoons a week on a first come, first served basis.
Please stop by the Children's Room, or call us at (845)358-3370 x228, for more detailed information about Book Buddies and the Summer Reading Program!
