bio

I knew from an early age that I wanted to work with children. I spent many years babysitting and was a counselor at a sleep-away camp throughout middle school and high school. I also come from a long line of librarians, so it was a natural step for me to become a children’s librarian. I feel like the luckiest person in the world to have this job. I have met so many wonderful people here at the Nyack Library, and I can honestly say that I enjoy coming to work everyday.

While I enjoy reading all kinds of books, my favorite is a good old fashioned ghost story. I love reading about spooky things!  My sister (who is also a children’s librarian) and I like to travel and go on ghost tours, though we have never seen one.

My family is Latvian. Latvia is a small country in Europe, north of Poland. I went to Latvian school every Saturday to learn the language, culture, history and folkdancing. I disliked going to school six days a week, but I am thankful now that my parents took me. My husband is also Latvian, and we have Latvian friends all over the world. Our son goes to a Latvian Sleep Away camp in the Catskill Mountains…the very camp that I went to as a child.

Please stop in and see me at the library!
