Library Cards

 Residents of the following locations are eligible for full library privileges (borrowing materials, reference services, interlibrary  loan and use of the facilities): Nyack, Upper Nyack, South Nyack, and Grandview, as well as Upper Grandview and Central Nyack residents who are residents of the Nyack Union Free School District.

Out-of-System Customers

The Nyack Library will not issue its card to individuals who live outside of the RCLS area, unless they work or go to school within the Nyack District.  These users may obtain a card for borrowing privileges at the Nyack Library ONLY. Individuals visiting from outside the boundaries of RCLS are welcome to use the Nyack Library for in-house browsing, reading and computer access, but must pay an annual fee of $95 for borrowing privileges.

Registration

Residents of the following locations are eligible for full library privileges (borrowing materials, reference services, interlibrary  loan and use of the facilities):

¨ Nyack, Upper Nyack, South Nyack, and Grandview, as well as Upper Grandview and Central Nyack residents who are residents of the Nyack Union Free School District.

Application for a library card may be made at the Circulation Desk.  Adults must provide 2 forms of ID (i.e. current driver’s license or picture ID and proof of Nyack address).  Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult  (parent/guardian).  Children between the ages of 14 and 18 must provide a photo ID or proof of enrollment in the Nyack School District.  PO Box holders must provide proof of residency.  New library cards will be mailed to customers within seven days of registration.

Borrowing Privileges

Cardholders whose accounts are not in arrears may borrow materials from the Library’s circulating collections for the specified loan period.  Customers must have a current library card with them in order to borrow materials.  Library policy permits children to borrow all library materials with freedom of access; parental guidance is suggested for children.

Lost Library Cards

Customers should treat their library card with care and notify the Library immediately if their card is lost.   Customers are responsible for all items attached to their record.

Use of Other Libraries

Nyack Library patrons in good standing may visit and borrow materials from any public library that is a member of the Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS).  Some materials may be restricted from circulation in some libraries, and all items are subject to the rules and regulations of the lending library. 

Replacement Library Card Fees

Replacement library cards are issued at a cost of $1 for an adult card and $.50 for a juvenile card.

Suspension/Revocation of Borrowing Privileges

Nyack Library customers will have their borrowing privileges suspended when any of the following conditions exist:

1. Seven (7) or more items are overdue.
2. Library materials have been returned but fines remain unpaid in excess of $5.00.
3. More than two (2) items have been set to Claims Returned on the record and have not been resolved.
4. Lost materials have not been paid for or replaced.
