Temporary limits may be set from time to time on materials in special subject areas. The overall limit of items checked out on any card is fifty (50).
Late Charges
The daily fine per item for overdue materials is $.10, except:
- Museum Pass: $5
- VHS, DVD, Video Game, & CD-ROM: $1
- Juvenile/Children’s material: $.05
- Express (7-Day) Book: $.20
- Out-of-district material: $.20
Maximum Fines on Overdue Materials
The maximum fine for overdue materials per item is generally $8.00 except:
- Museum Pass: $35
- Video Game: $10
- Juvenile book, record, cassette: $4
- Circulating periodical, uncataloged paperback, pamphlet: $3
Lost/Damaged Materials
Any materials that are damaged beyond repair or are lost while checked out to a borrower shall be charged to the borrower’s library card account as listed on the item record.

- Museum Pass Envelope: $10
- Video Games: $10
- Lost Bag (book with cassette): $5
- DVD or Video Game case: $2.50
- Audio Book case: $2 and up
- VHS or Playaway case: $2
- Music cassette case: $1
- Compact Disc case: $1
Audio-Visual Materials
VHS tapes, DVDs, video games, playaways, CDs and audiocassettes that are borrowed from the Nyack Library and are enclosed in hard cases, may be put into the Book Drop, provided the cases are securely closed with a rubber band or placed securely in a plastic bag. Borrowers of library audio-visual materials use them at their own risk on their home equipment. The Nyack Library will not be responsible for damage to equipment.
Renewals
All materials that are not on request for another patron may be renewed a maximum of two times. Video games and museum passes cannot be renewed. Materials may be renewed by calling the Circulation Department (extension 211) or online at our website using a valid RCLS library card and pin number by logging into the catalog.
